Will Java be replaced ? No.

You need to understand Java is present in Web, Desktops apps, Servers. All these are huge ecosystems in itself. With Node running on server. It does shrink a small margin for code bases written in Java on server. Similarly, there are other languages attacking the dominance in different ecosystems mentioned above.

However, all of these are just shrinking the margins by a small amount. Even in hypothetical situation let’s assume the shrinking continues, you’ll need a decade to see dominance of another language. Also, the dominance will be challenged only when big giants will be taking up initiative to move from Java to any other language. This initiative is going to cost them millions of $. We also forget about the legacy code base. The Wall Street still has some pieces of Java code base that are 10–15 years old. Intel, NASA and other giants have their mission critical code base written in Java. They won’t touch that!

Also, Java has grown tremendously in all sections and has created a strong ecosystem of libraries built on top of it. For any language to create such a vast and robust ecosystem, it will take years of collective efforts.

So, to answer your question, Will Java be replaced ?

Answer: It will take millions of dollars and active participation from giants (which is not gonna happen in near future…IMO)
